Guess who’s back in the US?!?!
In case you haven’t seen the haiku I’ve been posting this week (with some very obvious riddles), the wife and I were in England for a wedding and some good ole R+R in London.
I managed to get some sweet pics of what I assume is Greenland on our flight from Reykjavik to Baltimore. I’ve seen plenty of documentary footage of the arctic, but flying directly over it with such a clear view of the terrain felt like I’d been transported to another world. Paving stone sidewalks
lead to an unknown town, but
still familiar.
Guess who’s in England! We arrived yesterday afternoon to attend my friend’s wedding tomorrow. This will be a reunion of several of my grad school friends, so it’s only fitting that the smaller town we’re staying in reminds me of Exeter.

Last night, Jessie and I had our first writing session since… she moved to Denver.
You see, we used to meet periodically with our laptops and notebooks at a little cafe in Columbia, MD to take notes, talk shop, and brainstorm about whatever writing projects we were working on at the time.
Now that Jessie lives in Baltimore and I live just outside the city, we agreed to find a new writer’s cafe. Continue reading “Exploring Writing and Cafes in Fells Point”

Can I confess something to you guys?
I’m officially Concerned about publishing my book, and it is due to something that is out of my control.
Which I think makes this worse… Continue reading “Friday Publishing-Day: Rainy Days”
Welp, this summer should be awesome. Dead Sara dropped this single in early May with the announcement that they’ll be releasing a new EP, Temporary Things Taking Up Space, on June 8.
There’s been a bit of a lull in Dead Sara’s music releases ever since bassist Chris Null left the band in 2017. I had assumed that their next single would feature a new bassist with largely the same overall sound.
Wrong and wrong.
“Unamerican” comes as a three-piece where the lack of a bass guitar is never felt.
Emily Armstrong’s wailing combined with Siouxsie Medley’s distortion-laden riff achieves the same overwhelming feeling as their older songs.
Sean Friday continues his run as my favorite drummer with his energetic playing.
I don’t know if Temporary Things Taking Up Space will include any bassist, even as a studio performer. I hope not. I want to see what they do with the pieces they have.
Judging from “Unamerican” and “Heaven’s Got a Back Door”, Dead Sara will get on just fine.

Every molecule

layers and dances.
Another haiku inspired by a song that I simply cannot get enough of.
