Haiku Sunday NaNo 2016 Edition: Sacred Tree

“Sacred Tree”

Towering above,
protecting the forest vast.
Vigilant keeper.

Author’s Note: The Fa’al’Írkesh, or Sacred Trees, of Everfeld are far mightier than any other type of tree in the coniferous forest. They are identified by grey bark and dark blue leaves that feel as tough as leather and are said to never wither, even when separated from their parent tree. According to legend, the Sacred Trees were created by the Life Mother Gó’Dan to protect and watch over Everfeld, helping to maintain balance and harmony in the vast forest.

Friday Write-Day: The Joys of World-Building

Short Story Update – The Deadline is Coming!

Five on the Fifth‘s submission deadline for their short fiction contest is looming rather large on August 31. I currently have about 1,500 words of a first draft, with a pretty clear idea of how I will set up the final act and conclude the story. I think my submission will end up finishing around 2,500 words, but I’ve been known to miscalculate projected word counts in the past. Continue reading “Short Story Update – The Deadline is Coming!”

Haiku Sunday NaNo Edition! – Everfeld

“Everfeld”

Lone pine on the hill
Called out and became many-
Ever may they stand.

Author’s Note: Everfeld is a great coniferous forest in the northern region of Úr’Dan (pronounced oor-DAHN), spanning some thousands of square miles. This is also the main setting for the story of Jaed and Aston.
