Keeping Up With Howard County
Charging bulls branded for a constellation,
Jungle cats without their trademark spots,
Wild horses in herds of hundreds –
All with clean forevers mixed throughout.
The stampede of legends,
Fantasies of the heavens,
Ride through the twilight,
Racing fast out of sight.
Covet the striped patriot,
Suffer the shine of the sunfire,
Marvel at the speeding phoenix.
Over the horizon,
Down the streets,
Too deadly to touch,
But within reach:
Greed is taught;
Greed is preached.
Stylish consumerism,
Driven daily and dedicated
To the amassing of possessions
Whose novelty is continually faded,
As the buyer becomes jaded –
When want is all that has worth,
Will we ever be content?
