July 8 Theme: The Color of Jealousy?

We are now reaching sin number four in our seven-part, seven-week poetry series featuring the Seven Deadly Sins! We also had two guest submissions for the first time, which is always exciting. Three of the poems spoke directly about food, with one other focusing on the material side of gluttony.

Green With Envy

Despite the common interchanging of the terms, envy actually differs from jealousy, in that envy is the resentment caused by another person having something that one does not possess — a skill, an object, or the affections of someone else, for instance — but desires to possess for oneself. Jealousy, on the other hand, is the result or fear of losing something or someone to which one is attached or possesses to another person.

Theme: Envy

Structure: free verse

We will continue with the free verse structures, because it actually provides for more diversity in our submissions. Speaking of which, send submissions to redstringpapercuts@gmail.com by July 7 to participate… if you dare!
