Kneel
She did it alone:
Raised five kids
Ran a household
Made a warm home
She bows down before a Greater Power;
The same one that allowed her
To be abandoned
By the man she loved.
She handled the burdens alone:
By being a maid
Cleaning stranger’s homes,
To protect her own.
She submits to The Powers That Be;
The same ones that let her
Be verbally abused
And financially used
By someone who should’ve been better.
So she kneels at work,
Before earthly employers,
And at rest,
Before a quiet God.
Staying humble and feeling blessed,
While knowing above all else,
That she has never really been alone at all.
