History

Leave it behind.
Leave me behind in the middle of what once was –
Ghost of a fading memory; Burden of the blurry past.
Chin in the dirt; Belly to the cobblestones.
Leave me all the hurt.
For the last time, so you don’t forget:
I love you.
I know your wishes, your will, your worth.
And I know I’m not worthy.
Goodbye is the only gift I have left to give you.
Leave me to be just another piece of your history.
