I am burned out on writing. There I said it. It would be one thing if I didn’t want to write, or if I simply had no solid ideas. But I have a slew of drafts in my WordPress Dashboard and a pretty good handle on where I want “Jaed and Aston” to go over the final few chapters. I just don’t have the motivation to do any of them.
Camp NaNoWriMo officially kicks off today, but I will not be diving headlong into my goals. Those goals still stand, mind you. I want to have a completed first draft and a full revision by the end of the month to send to alpha readers. I certainly know that they are all waiting with bated breath for an early manuscript of some 150,000 words from an untested author (right guys?!).
However, I just cannot fathom sitting in front of my laptop for several hours this weekend trying to write. Luckily, I have a good excuse. I’ll be driving a moving truck 1800 miles to Denver, starting tonight. That’s right, your dear RSPC founders are road tripping over three days to move Jessie to the Rockies. We had big plans to blog from the road, but who knows what with the aforementioned burnout. We’re playing it by ear!
I’m excited about this trip mostly to share in some obnoxious, absurd antics with my partner in blogging crime, but also because I think it will give me a chance to reset my writing brain. I will not have my laptop with me (blasphemy, I know), only my trusty journal and hours upon hours of downtime to ponder and take notes on my story and possibly draft snippets of upcoming sections.
April’s Goals? Psh!
So what are my goals for April? Finish this damn book. Singular. Focus. I want the manuscript file sent by April 30, with the confidence that I gave the revision an honest try before being sent to four pairs of highly critical eyes.
I am excited to tease a few upcoming announcements we’ll have this month. One may or may not have to do with this very website, and another may or may not have to do with my story. I can feel your hands trembling with anticipation through the interwebs!
