I have been on a lot of roadtrips this year. From Maryland to Colorado (2x), from CO to North Vegas, from MD to New York.
And I highly recommend it!
This poem was actually written as my first submission to Stevie in our poetry and music trade back when we worked together, but all this driving around made me want to share it with you, so here goes:
Quick taps to the steering wheel,
Head banging to the beat ’cause you feel:
The magic of the music,
Who are you to refuse it?
Can’t park ’til the CD is done.
Let the passerby stare and judge,
Inside this ride there is only love:
Let my heart race and pound,
What could be better than this sound?
Let the world go on without me for now.
This right here is my soul mate,
The passion as voices abate,
The pleasure when the solo plays,
The waiting game in between songs?
Right here, right now – This is where I belong.
Quick taps to the steering wheel,
Head banging to the beat ’cause you feel:
The magic of the music,
Who are you to refuse it?
Can’t park ’til the CD is done.

PS: Earlier this week Stevie used one of the songs on that first mix in his Saving Ze World post. Filled me with warm nostalgia fuzzies!
