Lie To Me
Tell me about the sanctity of nature,
Of respect and perseverance,
When machines decimate land and sea
In the name of progress, advancement, and greed.
I don’t believe in any of this anymore.
Not their stories riddled
with lies of heroes and myths,
Meant to comfort fools and idiots.
Teach me of the goodness of man,
Of virtue and valor,
When we live in a world that rewards
Stupidity and hostility over dignity and honor.
Preach to me of the grace of God,
Of faith and belief,
When it’s used as an excuse and an alibi for
Prophets, murderers, and wayward priests.
I don’t believe in anything anymore.
Not their stories riddled
with lies of heroes and myths,
Meant to comfort fools and idiots.
But sometimes the dark is so dark
You need a story…

Btw, even though I know you’re an avid reader of my blog feed, I nominated you for the Blogger Recognition Award. Mainly because I think we read completely different blogs and I want to see your top picks. And yes, this means you have to accept it 🙂
