You’re bright blue, baby
A sight I’ve been deprived of,
A beauty unseen,
By someone as jaded as me.
Thought you couldn’t be true,
Such a radiant hue,
So new to someone too used to
Only shades of gray.
But you are true.
To the ones you belong to.
They’re mixing you up, babe.
Too soon, you’ll be just another gray,
I’m so sorry to say.
Wish I could prevent that,
Keep your brilliance untainted,
But, where you’re blue? I’m black.
I’d cover you, keep you hidden away.
Surely, it’s better to be gray.
