‘No One Sings Like You Anymore’

Lifting others with his heavy heart
Too soon to say goodbye
Too late to thank for his art

Under the black hole sun,
Lie chain link fences and
Youthful trespasses.
Yours was the soundtrack
Of this kid’s history.

Like a stone solid foundation
Of many a mix tape,
Your voice outshined
The brutal din
Of yesterday’s problems,
And helped carry
Many from knees
To feet,
To the road ahead…

Your words were always the cure,
Never the disease,
You helped show me how to live.
Good bye and Thank you.

RIP Chris Cornell

Jessie Gutierrez

What the Hell. Listening to Soundgarden in my backyard as  a little kid is one of my first musical memories. Really, one of my first memories at all. Man. I didn’t know him personally, but for all the ways his voice has been in my life, I will surely notice his absence. I wish him all the peace he couldn’t find here.
