Misplaced Missive #92 – Cold and Sarcastic

Kind and loving heart
Take it, I don’t need this part.
Caring is overrated,
All painful and I hate it.
No use debating it;
I’m better off with a heart less
Reckless than my own.

Give me apathy.
Give me indifference.
Everything else is too much,
This heart has no defense.
Dispense with feelings –
I’d rather be numb.

Blameless and balanced heart,
How to get there?
Fearless and without care,
Unbothered by those that dare
To try to pull forth ardor.
To spite them,
I’ll work ever harder,
To harden that which weakens.

Stoic and calm heart –
Treating every instance
With a blend of Seneca’s wisdom
And Aurelius’ wit.
How does one quit
Being so sensitive and quick
To feel?

Cold and sarcastic heart,
What’s the proper way to start,
Building walls to protect yourself?
How do you transform from someone affected
By the onslaught of passion,
The regrets of not taken action,
Unnecessary emotional distraction,
Without becoming cruel yourself?

Give me apathy.
Give me indifference.
Everything else is too much,
My heart has no defense.
Dispense with feelings –
I’d rather be numb.
