The issue is that I miss you,
I’ve been missing you since,
Before you left for far, far away.
Will there come a day,
When I’m no longer longing?
I’ve got lots to distract me,
But my mind wonders, inevitably,
Drawn to where it doesn’t belong.
It’s the call of the same old song,
The same old dance;
The call of forbidden romance,
Filled with wishes, but no chances.
Again and again. I write these words,
By your inspiration, though I know,
You’ll never read them, so
Believe me. I’d change if I could.
The issue is that I miss you,
I’ve been missing you since,
Before you left for far, far away.
Will there come a day,
When I’m no longer longing?
Does distance diminish desire?
Can it sire something new?
Some other tune for me to hum to?
Does distance drive away desire?
I tire of always being the only
One who is having issues.
