I can’t plan for the future,
But I can follow your future plan.
I’ll never understand –
Your timeline and timetable and timeframe,
But I think it’s a shame,
To let that stand in the way.
Maybe we are terribly different;
I’m following my stream of conscience,
Where ever it flows,
And you’re focused on looking forward,
Treading the set path,
Where it predictably goes.
You say you’re afraid,
Of hurting someone,
someday,
some way,
sometime,
But I say:
If it’s all the same?
I’ll risk the pain.
I won’t make you promises,
Of happily ever after and
White picket fences;
That’s useless and misleading.
All I can give you,
Is all that I’m feeling,
And that feels like forever.
You say you’re afraid,
Of hurting someone,
someday,
some way,
sometime,
But I say:
If it’s all the same?
I’ll risk the pain.
