Temptation in the face of practicality,
Shackled by conservative morality,
And the reality of significant others;
The dead end want of would be lovers,
Will how long stay under covers,
Of normalcy and friendship?
Confessions of burgeoning feelings,
Are no match for established feelings of love,
But how could they possibly be the ‘one’,
When you look at me that way,
And I can see your convictions start to sway?
Grasping tight to Virtue,
In thought, if not action,
I stand conflicted
And confused.
Don’t do good things,
That can be misconstrued,
As bad things,
Because when the truth rings,
Clear and loud,
It won’t be the sound,
Of hurried excuses and rushed lies,
That are remembered,
But the memories,
Of integrities,
Compromised,
And too much evidence
Of deeper ties,
That shines through.
The dead end want of would be lovers,
Will how long stay under covers,
Of normalcy and friendship?
