I’ve crafted this armor,
Of someone you’ll honor,
Run to for cover,
Never see suffer,
And trust easily.
So now, how can it be,
That you seem to see
Through to me?
Through the facade I fashioned for you
I was so convinced it was perfect too
Started to forget it wasn’t true.
All I wanted was
Superficial armor
Meant to keep you from harm.
All I needed was
Artificial strength
Meant to keep you from me.
I was trying to protect myself, too;
Can you tell from the metaphor,
I mean more than physical health?
I had hoped you’d be blinded
By the shine, the metallic strength;
All flawlessness and smooth silver,
Perfect image of righteousness and restraint.
