Can’t Park ‘Til The CD Is Done – JG

I have been on a lot of roadtrips this year. From Maryland to Colorado (2x), from CO to North Vegas, from MD to New York.

And I highly recommend it!

This poem was actually written as my first submission to Stevie in our poetry and music trade back when we worked together, but all this driving around made me want to share it with you, so here goes: Continue reading “Can’t Park ‘Til The CD Is Done – JG”

Concept Art: Lyrical Content Discontent

I went to a concert with shiny new acquaintances a few weekends ago. To give a little bit of setting, this was my first experience at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado after having moved west recently. The venue is majestic to the point of being almost surreally incomprehensible; the type of place that makes you believe that a stargate must’ve swooshed you off to a far off planet of paradise. Well. ‘It’s a symphony and everyone’s in the band’,
Said a wise man to a crowded room,
That might as well have been empty,
For all the impact he made. Continue reading “Rock Song – Saving Ze World – JG”

Finished*

173,920 words.

That is where my completed first draft sits in its current, non-revised form. I’m spending the entirety of my day off on Tuesday revising and finalizing the draft for Manuscript: Alpha, but damn it this feels good.

Much more work to come, but “Jaed and Aston” now has a beginning, middle, and end. I might be too excited to sleep tonight.

Creativity Sessions: Let Your Characters Write the Story

I forget sometimes that others can help pull you out of creative ruts. I’ve put a lot of pressure on myself to finish Manuscript: Alpha of “Jaed and Aston” this week, mostly by telling my alpha readers that I was almost done.

Then, I hit a narrative point that felt messy and too drawn out. I fussed over wording, I tried to find a shortcut (which I do not like admitting), I brainstormed a whole bunch. And then I happened upon an interview that gave me the jolt I needed. Continue reading “Creativity Sessions: Let Your Characters Write the Story”
