May Write Day: Little Writing, Much Awesome

I did not write very much in April. I honestly cannot tell you what I was doing instead of writing.

I applied for a bunch of jobs. We road tripped around Lake Michigan for 10 days, and then… Awesome Con. Writing was completely lost in that mix, but it was still a great month overall.

“The Grand Mythos” Chapter 4 has Arrived

Chapter four of my short fantasy series, “The Grand Mythos of Úr’Dan” is now available on Wattpad.

“Gó’Dan’s Form and Aeth’Ún’s Formlessness” is a short but sweet story about one of the Vaia choosing to help another out of love.

Genre: fantasy, high fantasy, mythic fantasy

Chapter Blurb: Now that the First Four Vai’ad understand a little more about each other’s power, they must work together to survive. This short chapter describes how one Vaia’s choice to help another created a key feature of the world of Úr’Dan.

Series Blurb:

Every world has its folktales, but even folktales carry a part of the truth. Follow the first beings in the universe as they try to bring order and life to their home. Witness the creation of the vibrant world of Úr’Dan, and the fantastic creatures who live there. Based on the unique fantasy universe of the novel, The Warden of Everfeld: Memento.

April Write Day: Progress at Last

March felt like a long month, likely because I spent much of it at home. I am still unemployed, but I was able to use my wide-open schedule to make some legitimate progress on The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy.

But how did my other goals for the month fare???? Find out, next! Continue reading “April Write Day: Progress at Last”

“The Grand Mythos” Chapter 3 is Up!

Chapter three of my short fantasy series, “The Grand Mythos of Úr’Dan” is now available on Wattpad.

Entitled “Hairek’s Hunger”, this chapter really starts to get into some of the early conflict between the First Four Vai’ad, as you’ll see in the chapter blurb below.

And if the concept of cosmic beings playing at god-games is a little too far-fetched for you, don’t worry. You’ll get to meet a more… earthly character in upcoming chapters.

Genre: fantasy, high fantasy, mythic fantasy

Chapter Blurb: The First Four Vai’ad are carving out their places in the Void, but are their purposes aligned? As Aeth’Ún, Gó’Dan, Hairek, and Órúma each search for meaning among the blackness of the Void, they may find that their unity is easily fractured.

March Write-Day: The New Routine is Up and Running

We have reached another month, and that means that, on this first Friday, it’s time for a writing update.

Notice the new title card? I kind of like the idea of switching up the photo each month, as a sort of thematic gesture. Continue reading “March Write-Day: The New Routine is Up and Running”

The Grand Mythos of Úr’Dan, Chapter 2, is Live!

Here’s the blurb again:

Chapter Two, titled: “The Lighting of the Void”, is available now.

Thank you again to Joanna Pacek for her work on that beautiful cover design! Joanna also designed and illustrated my short story title card.

It’s been five weeks since I published Chapter One, and I feel like that’s too long. From now on, I’ll publish a new chapter every four weeks.

Stay tuned for Chapter Three on March 26th!

February Write-Day: Now We’re Doing This Monthly

In my last Friday Write-Day post two weeks ago, I mentioned how I might change up the format of this once-weekly post to both challenge myself and provide some more unique content on RSPC.

I thought about a bi-weekly update for about a minute, until I realized that nothing outside of paychecks are scheduled fortnightly, and scheduling my blog in that manner would be ridiculous.

So now it’s monthly. On the first Friday of each month, I’ll update ya’ll on my writing progress from the previous month and talk about my goals for the new month. I’ll have a new title card for this monthly series next month. Continue reading “February Write-Day: Now We’re Doing This Monthly”

The Grand Mythos of Úr’Dan has Arrived!

Last night I published the first chapter of my mythic fantasy series, The Grand Mythos of Úr’Dan, on Wattpad!

https://www.wattpad.com/story/163684352-the-grand-mythos-of-%C3%BAr%27dan-volume-one

The Grand Mythos of Ur'Dan, Volume One, Chapter One

Here’s the blurb:

Every world has its folktales, but even folktales carry a part of the truth. Follow the first beings in the universe as they try to bring order and life to their home. Witness the creation of the vibrant world of Úr’Dan, and the fantastic creatures who live there. Based on the unique fantasy universe of the novel, The Warden of Everfeld: Memento.

Chapter One, titled: “The Void and the First Four Vai’ad”, is available now.

If you haven’t already, you can sign up for Wattpad to access this series for free. I will publish one chapter each month through 2019. Wattpad is a great way to discover other indie authors as well.

I’ve been pretty mum on the details of this series to this point, but I wanted to tell the origin stories of my fantasy universe. So, I’m starting at the very beginning, with the creation of the universe itself. Readers of WoEM in particular will recognize some of the names that appear in this series, so I’m excited to make those connections.

Many thank you’s to Joanna Pacek for her work on that beautiful cover design! Some of you may remember Joanna–or recognize her distinctive water-color style–from my short story title card. Once I had a basic concept in mind for my series cover, I knew that she was the right artist for the job.

Stay tuned for a new chapter each month!

Friday Write-Day: Dad Life Returns

Well, week one of my three-week paternity leave is just about done. I’ve been enjoying my time with the little guy, as always. Except today, he spit up all of the formula he had eaten just minutes before, nailing my shirt, his shirt, my pants, and his pants. Then, when I went to change him, he peed all over himself.

Dad. Life. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Dad Life Returns”

Friday Write-Day: A Taste of a New Routine

This week has been interesting, if a little off-center. My mom has been babysitting Nugget all week. She lives in my hometown, which is just about equidistant between my house and my office. My wife’s place of work is int he complete opposite direction.

So guess who’s been dropping off and picking up Nugget every day? Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: A Taste of a New Routine”
