after my mother’s funeral
I shovel earth onto her coffin
not knowing when to stop

on the paving slab
a slug’s silvery map
sets off an apricot stone
the Arctic terns have flown south –
late August, alone in a bird hide
sitting in the sun –

ripples in the universe
watching bumble bees spiral into petals
I rub lavender leaves between fingers
releasing scent
but it doesn’t ease

And blood stained “will never be”s. Continue reading “Misplaced Missives #192 – Cupid – JG”
Soft hues streak the sky
Water glistens silver-gold
The world is yet hushed

Here will I remain
Soon to tower, life renewed
Under sapling elm.

The road winds ahead

I came upon you
A stranger,
Along this walk of mine. Continue reading “For R.L. – SD”
