I really can’t fathom at this point how I won NaNoWriMo in 2016. What demonic powers took hold of me then?!
I’ve enjoyed trying to keep up with NaNo this year, but man, my writing progress standards have changed.
I’ve been talking more and more about the mythology series I have been writing for my fantasy universe. I’m pretty excited about these stories, so I think it’s time I shared why this kind of story is important to me.

November has arrived, and it somehow still feels like autumn has barely begun. But, as has been tradition around here for… 4 years, November means it’s time for National Novel Writing Month!
I’ve been relatively busy with being a dad and all, so it should come as a surprise to no one that I haven’t prepared in the slightest.
A short visit home
to see friends and meet new.

My buddy is in from L.A. this week, and he met my son last night in a mini-reunion of high school friends. Good times.

This was another one of those weeks where it felt pretty busy/hectic, but I don’t really remember specifically what happened.
[Thinking…]
We had a lot of visitors and things going on around the house. That’s why it felt busy. I didn’t have much time for writing due to this, but progress is not always measured in word count
Writing introductory sections is hard. I struggle to write intros to my blog posts sometimes.
Okay, a lot of times.
But I’ve picked up on one key way to introduce characters to the reader in a new story: introduce your character in their element.
