Wow, I had such high hopes for September, and it basically slipped through my fingers. We traveled each weekend but one, including our week-long beach vacation.
Rather than allowing me to refocus mentally and creatively, that time off flew by and dropped me right back into life like a rock. I didn’t take even one beach photo, and I always take pictures of the beach.
So September unwittingly became a break from writing. Continue reading “October Write Day: Where Did September Go?”

It has been far too long since I posted a new chapter of my series of fantasy myths. I intended to schedule this chapter during my vacation two weeks ago, but, well… forgot.
I’m really excited to introduce a new character, however, and explore what it would be like for a terrifying and beautiful force of nature to come alive: the sea!
Genre: fantasy, high fantasy, mythic fantasy
Chapter Blurb: The First Life has finally reached Mahar’s Blue Sea, but the being who brings the dark waters to life is not keen to entertain inquisitive visitors.
Series Blurb:
Every world has its origin story.
The vibrant world of Úr’Dan and the powerful beings who created it are eager to find life in the cosmos. But their untested powers will clash as they each strive to bring their vision of the universe to fruition–and control the wondrous creatures who live there. Witness the creation of a vibrant new world.
Based on the unique fantasy universe of the novel, The Warden of Everfeld: Memento.

The Island by S. Usher Evans is the first in her Madion War Trilogy, which I picked up at Awesome Con in April. After talking with the author for a few minutes, I decided to buy all three books at a discount.
After finishing book one, that seems like a pretty good decision. The Island is a solid adventure story that was easy to digest on a lazy vacation. Continue reading “#Review: THE ISLAND by S. Usher Evans – A Light Survival Adventure”
A week of downtime,
the mental reset. And now,
I’ve run out of time.

Specks of sunlight glint,
like gems scattered in the sand,
dust catching the eye.

Like a speck of foam
bobbing between salty swells
to land somewhere new.

Stresses numbed in waves,
falling away like sand grains,
washed out on the tide.
