Shallow tides to sweep the feet,
draw into its depths.

low roars and rattling sighs,
a layered chorus.

disguising tides in tumult,
like shards of sapphire.

Like a speck of foam
bobbing between salty swells
to land somewhere new.

Stresses numbed in waves,
falling away like sand grains,
washed out on the tide.

Waves boom against sand.
Sea salt sprayed into his eyes,
open in wonder.
We had a nice weekend in Cape Henlopen and Rehoboth, DE with my mom, step-dad, and sister. Nugget got his feet wet in the ocean for the first time, and he seemed mesmerized by the waves. I can watch the waves crashing on the beach for hours on end. Maybe he will share my love of the ocean.
