It’s a new year and we all made it to 2018. Huzzah! Good for us, right? Ha in the spirit of beginnings and positivity, I offer you the following: 

Don’t be afraid.
Not of the dark,
And not of the future.
Don’t be afraid,
Because you are never alone,
And I will always be there.

I can’t promise you perfection,
Or a life without pain; with only pleasure,
But I can swear to the near eternal sun,
That I will do all I can for you, as long as it shines above.

Fear not monsters in the dark,
I’ll stand steadfast between you and them,
Until they still the beats of my heart.
Fear not the miseries of the future,
Its mysteries hold only adventure,
Even if the map is blurred and the plan is unsure.

Don’t be afraid.
Not of the unknown,
And not of change.
Don’t be afraid,
Because the important things will remain,
And love stays the same.

I can’t promise you much.
And I know what little I offer,
Is not enough.
But I want it said; want it heard.

Fear not the questions nor the unknowable,
There is magic in the mastering of bravery,
And I know you more than capable of saving yourself.
Fear not the road that leads away from comfort,
Change is nature’s way, and I can safely say,
Any change you make will never take away from who you are.

Don’t be afraid,
Because you are not alone,
And I will always be there.
