NaNo Update – War of the Words!

Day 4 of NaNoWriMo: I haven’t had contact with the outside world in over 72 hours…

Psych. But seriously, I have spent a hell of a lot of time on my laptop recently. (Also, when was the last time you heard someone use “psych”? It’s sooo 1999.) Continue reading “NaNo Update – War of the Words!”

November’s Theme – Grrrrrrr Argh

Long Live Buffy!
Long Live Buffy!

All of the angries!!! Let’s leap from whimsical galumphing to hard hitting villanelles; from random and abstract to deeply personal and intimate; from fun and light and imaginary to graphic and dark and all too real. Continue reading “November’s Theme – Grrrrrrr Argh”

Haiku Sunday NaNo Edition! – Everfeld

“Everfeld”

Lone pine on the hill
Called out and became many-
Ever may they stand.

Author’s Note: Everfeld is a great coniferous forest in the northern region of Úr’Dan (pronounced oor-DAHN), spanning some thousands of square miles. This is also the main setting for the story of Jaed and Aston.

Prepare for Battle: NaNo is Almost Here / Programming Alert!

Yes, NaNoWriMo is set to begin at 12am tonight. Will I be waiting at my desk at 11:59:59pm, fingers prone over my keyboard to begin furiously typing at the stroke of midnight? Nope. I’ll likely be at a Halloween party. Continue reading “Prepare for Battle: NaNo is Almost Here / Programming Alert!”

Cinquain Triplet – Eye of the Storm, Fair/Festival, Sailor – JG

Fitting music:

Center of the festivities; eye of this bustling storm,
Here alone there is peace, calm, and a song.
Run now around the fire and gather all together,
For the cautionary tale of a merchant peddling leather,
Who traveled far and wide, never for short, always for long gone. Continue reading “Cinquain Triplet – Eye of the Storm, Fair/Festival, Sailor – JG”

Cinquain Triplet – Eye of a hurricane, fair/festival, sailor – SD

“Eye’s Fair Dance”

Winds and white foam soften, be still!
A honeyed melody drifts through the air.
Golden hues settle, like candlelight’s glow. Continue reading “Cinquain Triplet – Eye of a hurricane, fair/festival, sailor – SD”

Misplaced Missive #3 – Pieces – JG

514 Piece

The once intricate pieces of my personality,
Are now eroded, edgeless, and smooth.
I can’t determine what goes where,
Can’t find the part that should care,
So everything, from thoughts to moods,
Is muddled together, selected at random. Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #3 – Pieces – JG”

NaNoWriMo Oh Noooo

With October dwindling down and November rapidly approaching, Stevie has been… subtly… reminding me that National Novel Writing Month is on its way as well. To be frank, last year even though I participated, I definitely didn’t commit. So this year, despite my addiction to procrastination, I am going to do better. Mostly so he stops judging me (gosh).

In this, our nearing time of extreme productivity, I feel it important to remember certain rules bequeathed  to us from on high by the late, great Vonnegut. (Kurt Vonnegut is up in Heaven now).

And thus, our Eight Commandments: Continue reading “NaNoWriMo Oh Noooo”

Quick Rip: I have found my musical home, and it is called Folk Metal

I’ve been on a metal kick recently. I have never been terribly familiar with metal as a musical genre. The only metal band I could reasonably describe myself as a fan of is System of a Down. A while ago, I had been interested in finding other music like System of a Down, but I quickly learned that S.O.A.D. is entirely unique in their own right.
