Friday Write-Day: The Inevitable Lull

Well, it happened. Things got int he way of me reaching my goal this week. It’s been a bit stressful at work, so I took a couple of easy nights.

I still got a decent bit done on the revising front, though, so I’m happy about that. Luckily, I have a chance to bounce back. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: The Inevitable Lull”

So, I’ve Written A Book… Now What?

I am still adjusting to the fact that I do not have to be churning out sections and chapters every free moment that I have. My book is not ready for publication.

However, with the second draft complete and waiting to be edited by someone far more objective than me, I now have time to focus on all of the other aspects of publication. Continue reading “So, I’ve Written A Book… Now What?”

Non-Emergency Internet-Less Post!

I do not yet have interwebs in the new abode, and verizon isn’t coming until next week to hook it up.

No big deal. It’s been kind of nice sitting at home with PW and the pup listening to 98 Rock as we unpack, read, or eat data on our phones. Did you know the radio still broadcasts every night? And it’s free!!!

I was literally about to turn off my computer at work when I remembered that I had not scheduled anything for today. I haven’t missed a post in I don’t know how long (it’s probably not as long as I’m letting myself believe), and I’ll be damned if I miss one now.

Manuscript: Beta has officially surpassed 190,000 words, and I still have a chapter+ to write.

Happy Happy Hour!

Friday Actual Write-Day

Life has been busy since we bought our house. Most of my weekends and spare evenings have been spent sanding, painting, talking with repair pros, or demolishing moldy cabinets in the cellar.

Fortunately, real progress is being made on our house, and we’re on our way to moving in in the next month or so. I’ll post some photos soon. Continue reading “Friday Actual Write-Day”

GUEST POST: Writing for Yourself vs Writing for an Editor, by Steven D’Adamo

Sci-fi author Luther M Siler let me write a guest post for his website, which is pretty awesome. Have a look-see and check out his books. I’d be happy to have a fraction of the following he does. (Maybe just a slightly bigger fraction than currently. )

Thank you Luther!

Welcome to infinitefreetime dot com

At least one guest post today and tomorrow, as brain melt starts to set in.  Steve’s good people.  Be nice.

Bio: Steven D’Adamo is a writer based outside of Baltimore, MD. He co-founded Red String PaperCuts with a friend and fellow writer to discuss books, music, and poetry, and argue about life from their armchairs. For Whom Do You Write? (Hint: it always changes!)

Most of us say that we only write for ourselves, that it doesn’t matter how the outside world perceives our stories because we poured our hearts…

3 Ways to Revise Your First Draft

As I near the end of my revisions to Manuscript: Beta, I have begun to reflect on the process itself. Jessie called me crazypants when I told her I was rewriting The Warden of Everfeld: Memento to prepare the second draft.

So I thought I would compare this process to the other paths I might have taken. At its most basic, there are really only three ways to revise a first draft. Continue reading “3 Ways to Revise Your First Draft”
