Writing this week has been terribly slow. Work has been a bit more stressful than usual, sapping my mental energy by the time I get home, not to mention the (inevitably) last-minute preparations I have had to make for the holiday this weekend. Friday Write-Day: Goal – Time = Pressure!
Time is unforgiving. We always like to say that we have time, but I don’t think that’s true. I think time lends itself to us, giving us the opportunity to use it to our benefit or squander it. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Goal – Time = Pressure!”

Friday Write-Day: The Revision Plan
[Insert engaging, searchable image that I forgot to create here.]
Good news, everyone! All of my alpha readers are officially (finally) finished! I just met with a friend of mine last night to discuss the major themes and ideas that stuck out to him during his read of The Warden of Everfeld: Memento. It. Was. Fantastic.
It’s been entertaining, in a way, to hear these four friends/family members apologize profusely for how they’re about to eviscerate my novel before my eyes. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: The Revision Plan”
Friday Write-Day: Progress on the Non-Writing Front
I have not made much progress at all this week… for NaNoWriMo. With less than 10,000 words written through 18 days, I think it’s safe to say I will not be hitting 50,000 words, or probably even 30,000.
One reason for the lack of progress on either WoEL or my mythology stories this week has been my general stressing over the details of publication. Up until I printed those manuscripts for The Warden of Everfeld: Memento, publication felt like a far-off dream, attainable yet just out of reach. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Progress on the Non-Writing Front”
Friday Write-Day: NaNo Marches On
This week has been… interesting. I will spare you all my political ramblings in the wake of the US election, but suffice it to say that I have been wholly distracted from writing this week. I do not feel bad about it; elections are important. This election i particular is important, and I will be following President-elect Donald Trump’s policies closely. Friday Write-Day: The Joys of World-Building
My outlining has really taken off in earnest this week. I definitely have some big revisions in mind for The Warden of Everfeld: Memento, and dropping the synopsis on this site a couple days ago was invigorating. However, I’ve decided to let the alpha manuscript of WoEM (mostly) sit tight through National Novel Writing Month so I can focus on other aspects of my grand writing scheme. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: The Joys of World-Building”
Friday Write-Day: NaNo Prep Begins in Earnest!
I’ve finally finished my first read-through of Manuscript: Alpha. I should have finished weeks ago, but the last 40 or so pages were difficult to get through. I rushed writing the ending simply because I wanted to finish the first draft, and boy does it show. There are probably more spelling errors in those sections than in the entire rest of the book, not to mention several glaring plot-holes. I’d like to apologize publicly to my alpha readers for that. Just know that it was infinitely more tortuous for me because I wrote it 🙂 Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: NaNo Prep Begins in Earnest!”
Friday Write-Day: Revisions Beget… NaNoWriMo!
Another week, another round of pondering. Revisions to The Warden of Everfeld: Memento are coming along. I have about 40 pages to go to complete my first read-through. I’d like to do that by Sunday so I can start gearing up for NaNo 2016. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Revisions Beget… NaNoWriMo!”
October Update: Beefing Up after a Much-Needed Hiatus
Well, a lot has happened in the last 10 days. First of all, Future Wife finally became Present Wife. The wedding was amazing and the honeymoon was awesome. That photo above is a taste of what we experienced (and tasted) in the Big Easy Continue reading “October Update: Beefing Up after a Much-Needed Hiatus”
