Sometimes, the tangible goals don’t matter as much as the intangible. For instance, Nugget can lift his head up and hold it steady for a few seconds without teetering over like a top-heavy paper weight. That seems like a big accomplishment for a five-week-old!

As you might have guessed, I couldn’t write that much this week, but I did manage to make some moves in cool/interesting directions.

I wrote about 1,300 words in my Mythology series, which is way better than last week.. I also broke 10,000 words, so that’s cool. I’ve been aiming for about 12,000 words total for this first series of stories, and I have my final stories outlined already.

I just need to sit down and write.

I signed up for Wattpad this week, which many of you might be familiar with. It’s essentially a social reading app. It seems like a lot of indie authors will publish their novels in chapters or serials through Wattpad for free, and then sell the full books in print or ebook.

It’s a really intriguing idea, and I’ve already found an author I like. I’m only a few pages in, but The Juggernaut by Peter A. Dixon has caught my attention. It’s the first in a sci-fi trilogy about a human space colony built from the wreckage of destroyed spaceships.

What more could I ask for?

I’m not far at all into the story, but I like Dixon’s writing style, and the protagonist is interesting. He has already published the second book through Wattpad, and the third is on the way.

I think Wattpad will allow me to read more consistently throughout my day through their mobile app. Rather than trying to set aside time in the evenings to read a chapter or two, I can read a few paragraphs or pages in my downtime.

This very well may help me get back to reading consistently.

In other news, one of the blogs I follow put out a call for indie novels to review, so I contacted them about The Warden of Everfeld: Memento.

They accepted! I sent them a digital copy of my novel, and a review should be forthcoming fairly soon. I’m pretty stoked for that, especially now that I’ve revised the manuscript.

Book sales have been non-existent for over a month. Not that I was trying too hard. But with the novel updated, it’s time I get back to promoting this thing.

I had reached out to a number of book reviewers I follow a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t received any responses. Maybe their busy, which is cool, or maybe they get flooded with such requests and simply can’t get to all of them quickly, which is also cool.

But hearing nothing is pretty disappointing. I’m not going to get myself worked up over it, because I have things in the pipeline that will help me promote my novel outside of the blogosphere.

I think that’s it for this week. We’re taking Nugget to at least one festival this weekend, so that should be fun.

1. Write 5,000 words and/or finish my Mythology stories
2. Read several finger-swipes of books on Wattpad
3. Go to bed earlier
