As I’ve said a few times before here, being a stay-at-home dad, even for the short-term, has been an amazing experience. I’m spending three weeks at home with my son, just as he’s beginning to really experience the world around him.

I’ve been pretty mum on the details of this series to this point, but I wanted to tell the origin stories of my fantasy universe. So, I’m starting at the very beginning, with the creation of the universe itself. Readers of WoEM in particular will recognize some of the names that appear in this series, so I’m excited to make those connections.
Many thank you’s to Joanna Pacek for her work on that beautiful cover design! Some of you may remember Joanna–or recognize her distinctive water-color style–from my short story title card. Once I had a basic concept in mind for my series cover, I knew that she was the right artist for the job.

Well, week one of my three-week paternity leave is just about done. I’ve been enjoying my time with the little guy, as always. This week has been interesting, if a little off-center. My mom has been babysitting Nugget all week. She lives in my hometown, which is just about equidistant between my house and my office. My wife’s place of work is int he complete opposite direction.

Hope you enjoyed the haiku. Apologies for the short post. I had wanted to write my end-of-year Numberbrag, but that will have to wait.
My laptop appears to be on its way out after 10 good years. The battery (with which I replaced the first battery) is not functioning well, and I’m still not able to turn the computer on at this point.
I’m shopping around for a new home desktop, but in the meantime, I’ll have to use my wife’s laptop.
I also came down with a cold last night, and I’m trying not to get my son sick. He’ll probably be fine, but only he’s four months old. So I will be washing my hands compulsively for the rest of the week.
