Friday Write-Day: Moral Victories?

Sometimes, the tangible goals don’t matter as much as the intangible. For instance, Nugget can lift his head up and hold it steady for a few seconds without teetering over like a top-heavy paper weight. That seems like a big accomplishment for a five-week-old!

As you might have guessed, I couldn’t write that much this week, but I did manage to make some moves in cool/interesting directions.

Belated Numberbrag and Marketing Goals

Goals are funny. Sometimes, when they’re outside of your direct control, it’s better not to pay too close attention to them.

I lost sight of any specific marketing or statistical goals for this website for this year, since most of my efforts focused on publishing and promoting The Warden of Everfeld: Memento. So without particularly trying, we’ve hit a lot of goals… from 2017.

Misplaced Missive #25 – Mind/Heart, Brain/Feet, Accept/Defeat

I want you to know
I never gave you my heart.
It chose a path I can’t follow
The idea too hard to swallow.

And it’s not something I wanted
To have you hate me if I’m honest.
So now I suffer in the silence of lies by omission
Forsaken to friendship and avoidance
Of a simple sort of truth. Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #25 – Mind/Heart, Brain/Feet, Accept/Defeat”

Saturday of Book Quoting – Lewis Black’s Me Of Little Faith

“And just what is a laugh? While it is as mysterious as music, I see laughter as a cosmic hiccup that allows us to stare into the abyss while we straddle the grave.”

Mauldin, yet uplifting? Maybe. Continue reading “Saturday of Book Quoting – Lewis Black’s Me Of Little Faith”

Friday Write-Day: The Week of No Writing

Yep, I don’t think I wrote much more than 150 words this week.

I’ve been doing a lot of pondering, and also getting my revised KDP manuscript for WoEM in order, so that’s kept me pre-occupied. But, I still feel like some cool things are coming.

Misplaced Missive #24 – One More Year

I resisted this self interested decision,
To sever long frayed family ties.
But continuous comments and curses
Caused this crucial division
‘Cause you crossed the line,
One thousand times too many. Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #24 – One More Year”

Officially an Officiant: Thoughts Post Performing a Wedding

I’ve been pretty MIA for awhile now. Overburdened with promises I made without really considering how much they would personally tax me. One of those, really the one with the most to gain/lose, was my agreement to officiate a good friend’s wedding ceremony.

It transpired this past weekend. It went…. far better than I could have hoped, to be honest. My heavy reliance on my ‘inner wolf’, as I jokingly call my tenuous confidence, pulled me through a situation that terrified me.  Continue reading “Officially an Officiant: Thoughts Post Performing a Wedding”

Baltimore Comic-Con Reconaissance

I went to my first convention on Sunday! I knew that fellow author and blogger MLS Weech was going to be there, so I wanted to take the opportunity to stop by his table.

But I also wanted to start preparing for my next big move in book publishing: selling my book at conventions.
