I have not been posting lately. Why? Mostly ’cause I’m trying my damnedest to work a bunch during the service industries’ busiest time of year and finish my nearly complete novel. Continue reading “Post That Is Not A Post, But An Excuse”

Friday Write-Day: Goal – Time = Pressure!
Time is unforgiving. We always like to say that we have time, but I don’t think that’s true. I think time lends itself to us, giving us the opportunity to use it to our benefit or squander it. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Goal – Time = Pressure!”
Friday Write-Day: What are the Stakes?
Manuscript: Beta for The Warden of Everfeld: Memento has started off well, albeit not as smoothly as I had hoped. Only 8,000 words into my second draft, my writer’s feels this week have run the gamut from soaring over-confidence to sinking self-loathing.
I believe this is the quintessential curse of the writer. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: What are the Stakes?”
How to Find a Cover Designer
I believe I mentioned in one of my recent Friday Write-Day posts that I had begun the process of finding a cover artist for my novel. I did this not because it was part of my strategic process of preparing for publication — that would have been the smart thing to do. Continue reading “How to Find a Cover Designer”
Friday Write-Day: The Revision Plan
[Insert engaging, searchable image that I forgot to create here.]
Good news, everyone! All of my alpha readers are officially (finally) finished! I just met with a friend of mine last night to discuss the major themes and ideas that stuck out to him during his read of The Warden of Everfeld: Memento. It. Was. Fantastic.
It’s been entertaining, in a way, to hear these four friends/family members apologize profusely for how they’re about to eviscerate my novel before my eyes. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: The Revision Plan”
Numberbrag: New Monthly High!
Man, it’s hard coming back to everything after an extended holiday, even the things we want to be doing. Writing has been sparse for me this month, despite my pre-NaNo bluster about getting a jump-start on my second novel. But I’ll talk about that more on Friday, because today, Red String PaperCuts hit a pretty sweet milestone! Continue reading “Numberbrag: New Monthly High!”
Consolation Post!
I completely forgot that today was Friday. I intended to provide an update on my alpha readers (everyone is finished!) and my excitement over finding a cover design illustrator (I may have narrowed it down!), but I just plain old forgot to write the thing. That’s what excessive amounts of amazing food and relaxation will do to you.
Hope my fellow Americans are having a fantastic holiday weekend (and avoided the craziness of Black Friday shopping). We will return to our regularly scheduled programming on Sunday with the final NaNo 2016 edition of Haiku Sunday.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday Write-Day: Progress on the Non-Writing Front
I have not made much progress at all this week… for NaNoWriMo. With less than 10,000 words written through 18 days, I think it’s safe to say I will not be hitting 50,000 words, or probably even 30,000.
One reason for the lack of progress on either WoEL or my mythology stories this week has been my general stressing over the details of publication. Up until I printed those manuscripts for The Warden of Everfeld: Memento, publication felt like a far-off dream, attainable yet just out of reach. 15 on the 15th: Maryland
Welcome to the Old Line State, where the music is almost as cool as the flag:
Good Charlotte – The Motivation Proclamation
I don’t care what anyone thinks about GC, they inspire all of the MD pride and nostalgia in me especially now that I no longer live there. Originally from Waldorf, they will always be first on my list. Continue reading “15 on the 15th: Maryland”
Friday Write-Day: NaNo Marches On
This week has been… interesting. I will spare you all my political ramblings in the wake of the US election, but suffice it to say that I have been wholly distracted from writing this week. I do not feel bad about it; elections are important. This election i particular is important, and I will be following President-elect Donald Trump’s policies closely.
