NaNo Update – War of the Words!

Day 4 of NaNoWriMo: I haven’t had contact with the outside world in over 72 hours…

Psych. But seriously, I have spent a hell of a lot of time on my laptop recently. (Also, when was the last time you heard someone use “psych”? It’s sooo 1999.) Continue reading “NaNo Update – War of the Words!”

Prepare for Battle: NaNo is Almost Here / Programming Alert!

Yes, NaNoWriMo is set to begin at 12am tonight. Will I be waiting at my desk at 11:59:59pm, fingers prone over my keyboard to begin furiously typing at the stroke of midnight? Nope. I’ll likely be at a Halloween party. Continue reading “Prepare for Battle: NaNo is Almost Here / Programming Alert!”

NaNoWriMo Returns, and so does my motivation

Holy crap, it’s almost October. This is the reason I avoid lofty New-Year’s-resolution-style goals at the beginning of the year. I am happy to say that I am on pace to meet some of the realistic goals I’ve set for myself. I should exceed my minimum for financial savings this year. September’s Theme – “Round And Round We Spin…

Theme Doodle!
Theme Doodle!

…. with feet of lead and wings of tin” – Kurt Vonnegut

Theme – Baggage ORRRRRRRRRR That Which Lingers

Structure – Double Acrostic

C’mon people, be prepared to work those vocabularies and dust off your thesaurus!

The Story of 1,000 Stories: Piecing Together the Narrative Puzzle

Recently, I’ve decided to dive into reading two lengthy, in-depth fictional series at once for my leisure reading: The Wheel of Time and The Horus Heresy. About 3.5 books into these series, I’ve managed to stay focused on the wider story arcs of each while alternating between them. And so far, I am astounded at how brilliantly these two series are written, and how differently from each other. Continue reading “The Story of 1,000 Stories: Piecing Together the Narrative Puzzle”

March’s Theme – and call for ideas!

Let’s be real for a moment. I’m getting kind of bored of coming up with themes every month. It’s not that I’ve run out of ideas; it’s really that I feel like my voice is drowning out any external potential for creativity. Continue reading “March’s Theme – and call for ideas!”
