Friday Write-Day: Time for a Break

From everything.

The wife and I are headed to Colorado this weekend for a wedding in the mountains — sure to be a beautiful time. After that, I’ll be visiting my sister in Nevada.

Hooray for new places! Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Time for a Break”

Friday Write-Day: All the W.I.P.!

This has been a tough week, mainly due to stress at work. Unfortunately, I haven’t quite mastered compartmentalizing work stress from my home life, so I needed a break from computer-related endeavors.

In short, I didn’t write much this week.

I did, however, get myself a bit more organized for my upcoming works-in-progress. Note the plural there. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: All the W.I.P.!”

7 Things I’ve Learned from Self-Publishing My First Novel

The pre-order period for The Warden of Everfeld: Memento officially ended last Wednesday, which means it’s time for a little retrospective on how this 30-day marketing binge went for me.

Here are 7 things I’ve learned from self-publishing my first novel, so far. Continue reading “7 Things I’ve Learned from Self-Publishing My First Novel”

Friday Write-Day: The Pre-Order Recap

Welp, my novel has officially been published. I must say, a full day after publication, I feel…

Relieved.

The preparation and waiting for publication were a bit stressful, but all the other parts were fun. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: The Pre-Order Recap”

Friday Write-Day: Small Progress

Holiday weeks are always a little wonky. We returned from our long weekend at the lake house on Monday evening, went to work on Tuesday, had Wednesday off, and work again Thursday and today.

Anyway, the weirdness threw my writing schedule off a bit, too, but I think I did alright. Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Small Progress”

Using History as a Story’s Backbone

Over the last few years, I’ve managed to cultivate a few writing practices which help me build my stories. While on an extended weekend vacation, I went back to an old gem and rediscovered its virtues: history.

And no, I don’t mean actually studying real history to tell my own stories, although I also enjoy that. I’m talking about writing history. Continue reading “Using History as a Story’s Backbone”

Friday Write-Day: Camp NaNoWriMo Returns!

As I talked about last week, it’s back to the grindstone for me in the wake of WoEM’s  pre-order release.

I’d like to make some headway on my second novel, The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy, and I just happen to have the perfect opportunity to do so: Camp NaNoWriMo 2018! Continue reading “Friday Write-Day: Camp NaNoWriMo Returns!”

Friday Publishing-Day: So Close Yet So Far

This has been a weird week in publishing world. From finicky software to minor non-errors, I’ve suddenly hit a number of hang-ups that probably aren’t a big deal.

It’s just been annoying. I know I’ll be able to iron out the kinks. Luckily, I’ve made progress in other areas this week. Continue reading “Friday Publishing-Day: So Close Yet So Far”
