Friday Write-Day: Time for a Break

From everything.

The wife and I are headed to Colorado this weekend for a wedding in the mountains — sure to be a beautiful time. After that, I’ll be visiting my sister in Nevada.

Hooray for new places!

This mini-vacation is interrupting my hectic schedule in the best possible way.

Work has been stressful, but hopefully a big project that’s been in the works for months is finally falling into place… once I return.

The wedding we’re going to is at some mountain retreat in CO, so I’m excited to spend a couple of days enjoying the fresh mountain air.

After that, I’m off to Reno for a few days. Apparently the air there is hazy from the smoke of the wildfires in the region, but Lake Tahoe should still be beautiful. A long weekend of hiking out west is just what I need.

Not least because I still haven’t fallen into a steady writing rhythm. I manage to churn out a few hundred words every few days, but I haven’t found the level of production I’d like to.

I’m beginning to resign myself to late-night writing spurts while trying to keep up with an infant’s sleep schedule.

I have 7,000 words total for The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy. I’m going to try to write a chapter in my journal while I’m traveling, but we’ll see how far I get. The flight to Denver isn’t that long.

Overall, I’m just looking forward to getting away for a while.

Goals for 8/17
  1. Hike in both CO and NV and relax with my wife this weekend.
  2. Write at least several pages in my journal while traveling.
  3. Get on a better sleep schedule.
