As I talked about last week, it’s back to the grindstone for me in the wake of WoEM’s pre-order release.
I’d like to make some headway on my second novel, The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy, and I just happen to have the perfect opportunity to do so: Camp NaNoWriMo 2018!
I did not achieve my goal of writing 3,000 words this week. I did, however, decide on a path forward for my first draft of WoEL.
Last weekend, I read through the first section of my draft to get my head back into this story. I didn’t like it. I read through it again, trying to find ways to revise it.
That didn’t work, so I decided to rewrite it with that first draft as a guide. In the long run, I think this will help me maintain consistency int he voicing and style. Some of these early sections were written a full year ago.
I’d like to think my writing style has improved somewhat since then, so I opened a fresh document and started typing. I’m not scrapping my original 12k words, mind you. I just want to ensure that they reflect the narrative outline I have set forth for my characters.
Publishing Things
Post-publishing world has been strange this week. My initial Taboola PPC campaign didn’t get off the ground, likely because my opening bid was too low. I’ve worked with Taboola before, and I know that fiddling with an active campaign too much can be disastrous.
So I canceled the original campaign and began brand new ones. I’ll write a post on that process soon.
I’ve also been monitoring my KDP pre-orders — perhaps a little too closely. I have no idea what to expect in that realm, so I won’t even get into details until the pre-order period is over.
In reality, this stuff has probably been distracting me too much from writing my next book. That’s my main goal now.
Goals for 7/6
- Write 3,000 words in WoEL
- Ride out the pre-order period without stressing over it
- Enjoy a nice, relaxing long weekend on the lake
