Haiku Sunday NaNo 2016 Edition: Little Fox

Last year, I published five haiku through the month of November featuring themes from my NaNo project/soon-to-be novel, The Warden of Everfeld: Memento. To keep with tradition (because obviously doing something once makes it a tradition), I will be featuring four more story-related haiku each Sunday this month featuring characters or themes from The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy.

With each haiku I will also provide a brief description of the subject to provide some context — and perhaps reveal some interesting details about my story! Here are the five haiku from last year if you want to check them out:

  1. “Everfeld” – Nov. 1, 2015
  2. “The Keeper” – Nov. 8, 2015
  3. “Jaed” – Nov. 15, 2015
  4. “Tattoo” – Nov. 22, 2015
  5. “Aston” – Nov. 24, 2015

So, without further ado…

“Little Fox”

Darting through the trees,
bursting blaze among the green,
she spots her quarry.

Author’s Note: “Little Fox” is a playful nickname given to Arden in The Warden of Everfeld: Memento. Even as a child Arden loved to go for wanderings through the mighty forest of Everfeld, learning basic survival skills along the way. Now as a young teen in The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy, Arden has begun honing her skills as a hunter and tracker. She is at home in the forest, but her troubled past still haunts her. Will Arden ever feel truly safe?
