It’s only from the shoulders of giants,
That we can reach new heights,
As it is only from ignoring dead women and men,
Whose wisdom is waiting to be read,
That we can reach new lows.
And it shows.
Our willing, willful stupidity. Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #193 – Waiting Wisdom”

Misplaced Missive #122 – Kings and Courts and Clowns
Endless apologies for reasons unknown,
Offered up continuously to a hollow throne,
Countless attempts to atone even though,
As you reign, this servitude enslaves me.
Where will self-imposed exile take me? Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #122 – Kings and Courts and Clowns”
Misplaced Missive #168 – Caffeine and Whiskey
I’m running on caffeine,
And bleeding whiskey.
My behavior is getting risky,
Will you miss me,
When I’m gone? Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #168 – Caffeine and Whiskey”
Moonlit Musing – Vulnerable
Surrender to the swell –
The crescendo of emotion,
In one moment focus,
On all the beauty and all the bad.
Let it rip you apart;
Let it put you together. Continue reading “Moonlit Musing – Vulnerable”
Misplaced Missive #149 – Faith
Single minded devotion,
Don’t question, just focus,
All your everything on,
Something that may not exist.
Blind faith is bliss,
How dare I doubt this? Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #149 – Faith”
Misplaced Missive #106 – Your Glass House
Cast your stones,
Your glass house,
Fell away long ago.
The sinner who fancies
Himself a saint,
Earns nothing but shame. Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #106 – Your Glass House”
Witness My Self-Bribery: An Attempt To Manipulate Myself
I cannot stay focused, I have no motivation, and I loooooooove to procrastinate. Do you see all those ‘o’s? That’s a lot of love, people!
In an attempt to remedy this lack in my writing life, I have decided to resort to bribing myself. Of course, if I tell no one, then there’s no one to hold me accountable, hence: I’m pulling you folks in, to act as hawk-eyed witnesses! I both thank and dislike you all, in advance. Continue reading “Witness My Self-Bribery: An Attempt To Manipulate Myself”
Misplaced Missives 14 & 84, And How They Came To Be
Generally, I’d prefer not to talk about what inspired me to write the missives. Most of them bubbled forth from religious doubt and self hatred and fears of growing up. Some are naturally darker than others… but they are not unique. Not in what they sprung from.
Recently, and not recently, stories have come to light about predators, protected by their power and by their peers, preying upon those who should have been able to trust them. People who failed so spectacularly to be decent human beings that there are no words to describe them.
They are not unique either. Continue reading “Misplaced Missives 14 & 84, And How They Came To Be”
15 on the 15th – Almost Like Praying
Puerto Rico is still suffering. That’s 3.5 million American citizens still suffering, and despite concentrated efforts, the Island Of Enchantment has raised less support than its fellow stricken lands of Texas and Florida, so… I made this. I figure it can’t hurt and I’m thinking about the island all the time anyway. I know PR isn’t a state, so this is technically deviating from the 15ths’ initial intent, but, oh well. Please forgive me and, if you’re able, please show the island a little love.
Here goes: Continue reading “15 on the 15th – Almost Like Praying”
Misplaced Missive #64 – F.A.M.I.L.Y.
You would turn me away,
Your own flesh and blood,
Because of something beyond my control.
So your gratitude and ignorant love,
Mean nothing, once the truth is told. Continue reading “Misplaced Missive #64 – F.A.M.I.L.Y.”
