Friday Write-Day: Movement

Happy Friday. Have a YouTube:

You’re welcome. It’s been quite some time since I’ve heard new Hozier music, but maybe it’s time for a sequel to my review of his first album. That was way back in December 2014… nearly four years ago!

Aaahh, memories. Onto the writing!

I managed to write only two or three days this week, which seems to be the common thread these days. It’s not that I’m not productive when I write. It’s that it’s hard to find a moment to do so.

Still, I churned out 1,500 words, which feels pretty good considering how much not writing I did.

We spent a couple of afternoons/evenings at my mom and step-dad’s house this week to help them out. So it’s not like I was lazy. We were just busy.

I’m currently rewriting a chapter I had written a few months ago. It’s the introductory section for my fourth POV character, and I’m enjoying it. Not only does rewriting help me pad the numbers, but I happen to like this particular character quite a bit. They were featured pretty heavily in The Warden of Everfeld: Memento, so it feels good to come back to them.

Each of my first four chapters features a different POV character. Two of them are in the same place and spend a fair amount of time together, and the other two are off on their own.

I’m sort of wondering if this is too many narratives to start a book. Maybe I should begin with just one or two narratives for a few chapters, let those characters become established, and then introduce the fourth.

I think that’s something I’ll have to let alpha readers decide. The four story lines are loosely connected, or will become directly connected eventually, but the reader doesn’t know that.

To save myself a lot of stress and time, I’m just going to roll with it.

We have a pretty open weekend coming, and then my favorite holiday. We’ll spend Thanksgiving Day with my parents, and then drive out to the mountains where my wife’s family has a cabin.

A lot of people are coming in to meet Nugget, so that will be great.

That’s all I got today. More to come, as always.

Goals for 11/23

  1. Write 5,000 words for NaNoWriMo
  2. Enjoy feasting and napping for four straight days
  3. Enjoy watching Nugget meet all his cousins
